Where time stands still
Ireland' s fairy-tale shore line

March 30 to May 31, 2006

The Berlin-based photographer had traveled all of Ireland during five trips for the German magazine »mare« and had spent a total of three months to capture the magnificent coast line of the island. The conditions were partially extreme. Often she had to fly with a helicopter to shoot the 6×9 centimeter negatives which she took using a custom-made special camera called Alpa 12 and lenses made by Schneider Kreuznach.

She created a series of powerful images which look surprising and almost surreal in their colors and their beauty: the barren shore line, where huge waves break, rugged cliffs overgrown with plants in countless different shades of green, historic castles and abandoned cemeteries, light houses and ship wrecks, secluded nightly harbors and the ever-present sky with its ever-changing character. The wide and open spaces exude a stillness beyond any sense of time. In some pictures, her choice of light produces a mystical and scenic atmosphere.

Her Ireland series has been published by dreiviertel verlag in a spectacular coffee table book under the tutelage of Nikolaus Gelpke. The title: »Irland - Reisen an eine sagenhafte Küste«. Also published by dreiviertel verlag - a calendar call.
